Decking Sheffield

Privacy Policy

This page explains what we do with the details and photos you send us when you ask for a quote, who sees them, how long we keep them and what you can ask us to do with them.

Who we are

Decking Sheffield is a trading name of The Yorkshire Timber Decking Company Limited, registered in England and Wales, company number 04102466. Our registered office is The Old Workshop, 1 Ecclesall Road South, Sheffield, S11 9PA.

We are responsible for the personal information collected through this website. To ask about anything on this page, use our contact form or call 0114 697 6999.

What we collect

When you fill in one of the enquiry forms on this website, we receive:

  • your name, email address and phone number
  • your address and postcode
  • the type of decking you are interested in, and the rough length and width
  • any photos you upload, which will usually show your garden and the back of your home
  • anything you write in the message box

If you phone us, we note your name, number and what you need so that we can call you back and quote.

How we use it

We use your details to reply to your enquiry, arrange a visit, prepare your quote and, if you go ahead, plan and carry out the work. Your address and photos help us judge access, levels and the size of the job before we visit.

We do not sell your details, and we do not add you to a mailing list.

Our legal basis

Under UK data protection law, when you ask us for a quote we use your details to take the steps you have asked for before a contract is agreed. If you become a customer, we use them to carry out that contract. We also have a legitimate interest in keeping a record of quotes and jobs so that we can answer questions about them later.

Who sees your details

Form submissions go to The Yorkshire Timber Decking Company Limited and are read by our own team. We share only what is needed with:

  • our website platform, which stores form submissions and uploaded photos for us
  • our email provider
  • anyone working with us on your job, such as our electrician, who receives only the details needed for that work

We will also share information where the law requires us to. Some of these services, including Google, may process data outside the UK. Where they do, they must protect it with safeguards recognised under UK law.

Our forms use Google reCAPTCHA to stop spam. It checks that the form is being filled in by a person and sets a cookie called _GRECAPTCHA . Google's own privacy policy applies to that check.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry details, including any photos, for 24 months from your last contact with us, and then delete them. If you become a customer, we keep invoices and job records for as long as tax and company law requires.

Cookies and visitor statistics

This website uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people use. Its cookies, _ga and one starting _ga_ , are set when a page loads. The website platform also sets its own visit statistics cookies, with names starting _sp_ and dm_ . They record things like which pages were viewed and when. They do not tell us who you are, and there are no advertising or social media tracking cookies on this website.

To opt out, block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install Google's Analytics opt-out add-on. Blocking these cookies does not stop the website or the forms from working.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • tell you what information we hold about you and give you a copy
  • correct anything that is wrong
  • delete your information
  • stop or limit how we use it, or object to our using it
  • give you your information in a form you can pass to someone else, where that applies

Ask through our contact form or by phone. We will reply within one month, and there is normally no charge.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so that we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page if the way we use your information changes.
